About The Site

Introduction:

Welcome!  This blog site will be used to reflect on the history and cultural aspects of the Haynes family.  This blog was inspired by The Warmth of Other Suns a book by Isabel Wilkerson.  Wilkerson's book highlight the lives of three characters and how their Great Migration effected their lives.  In this website you will find information on the migratory movements of some of my family members.  Most of the information you will read was a result of some type of movement by my family.

The historical and cultural studies will mainly be characterized by the religious and political approaches.  The religious and political points can not truly be confined to one study.  Therefore, you will find cultural and historical content in these sub-studies.  A great deal of information has been utilized to make this site what it is.  I hope you enjoy!

Objectives:

This site will be use to address the sub-disciplines, religion and politics and the roles they played in the Haynes Family. In conjunction to identifying their roles this site will also reveal how these two perspectives, which fall under the historical and cultural interdisplinary studies, contribute to my belief system.  The life of my great grandfather, Frederick D. Haynes Sr., will be primarily used to present this project.  From this site you will gain knowledge on my family history, some of the migratory moves of a few family members, some cultural characteristics (religion) of my family, and why it is important to know where you came from in order to know where you are going.

Goals:

1.     To share a little background information on where my family comes from
2.     How this information and research plays a fundamental role in my life
3.     Inspire others to want to reach back and gain more knowledge on their past

Audience:

My target audience is any and everyone.  Like stated before I would like others to be moved to wanting to know more about their own family.  For those who have already begun research on their family, I hope that this site would be used as a stepping stool for others to continue to reach out to gain as much information as possible.
